On April 2, 2021, the Research Institute "Fundamental and Applied Research" of Silkway International University held a webinar on the topic "Features of academic writing". The webinar was attended by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Master of Management and Leadership in Education Ospan Edilbay Toleubaevich from the University of Nottingham (UK) and the teaching staff of the Department of "Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education", "Pedagogy and Psychology" of the International University Silkway, undergraduates and doctoral students. Edilbay Tuleubayuly is a well-known scientist with extensive experience, who conducted a number of studies in the field of academic writing.

Teaching academic writing should be directly related to the mission of modern global universities – research, educational, and socio-political.

Currently, writing scientific texts is the source of all research competencies. To date, the establishment of scientific relations is not limited to national or individual industry frameworks. At the global level, the most important skills required for successful study in any university are academic subscriptions. Academic writing is complex and
a set of planned skills, including linguistic and metallinguistic competencies. It is these skills that are now very much in demand by our young specialists and students.

In his report, Edilbay Tuleubayuly told about how to conduct the first research work for students, how to learn how to work with scientific publications, books. It is known that the formation of scientific knowledge and its transportation is carried out in text form, i.e. in the scientific environment, the publication of the results of research works is taken into account, and in the educational environment-the writing of theses, dissertations. For undergraduates, sharing a topical issue on the topic of plagiarism, every researcher should be able to think critically, not be afraid and respect objectivity and someone else's point of view, analyze. The pedagogical community noted the peculiarities of academic writing to scientific articles and the importance of checking their work to other colleagues, the opportunity to correct their mistakes by listening to criticism. In the conditions of the digitalization society, the volume of scientific publications increases dramatically, and written communication gives priority to the conversational style and requires the development of digital technologies. The scientist analyzed the features of the academic text, systematized the structure of scientific articles, and the principles of scientific ethics. The webinar has achieved its goal, and on behalf of the team, we express our deep gratitude to Edilbay Toleubaevich for sharing his experience.
